Please make sure you can take your puppy into your vet for a puppy wellness check then next day BEFORE making an appointment for picking up your puppy.

A puppy is a baby and needs to adjust to his new home at his/her pace. They need a quite place to get use to you, your home and sounds. If a puppy becomes too stressed they can develop loose stools that may dehydrate them which could kill them.

Please understand these are living beings and must be kept fed. Do to their fast growth if they don't get enough their blood sugar can drop and they could die.

We use Victor high pro plus but some will not eat if stressed and must be bribed with taster tidbits. Roast chicken, tiny bit of beef, all meat baby food, scrambled eggs, tiny bits of cheese....

Please keep on hand

Nutria-cal paste

Pedigree chicken/beef canned puppy

Canned pumpkin (pumpkin only not pumpkin pie mix) for loose stools

All meat baby food. Turkey or chicken.

Your vet's after hours number.

THEY NOT SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND HUMAN!!

YOU MUST BE FIRM BUT KIND!!

AS TO BRING YOUR BABY HOME.

FIRST, THE ONE THAT HOLDS THE PUP ON THE WAY HOME WELL BE THE ONE THAT THE PUP WILL MOST LIKELY BOND WITH FIRST (PLUS THE ONE THE PUP MIGHT GET CAR SICK ON). SO IF YOU WANT THE PUP TO BOND WITH ALL FAMILY MEMBERS THEN IT IS BEST TO BRING THE PUP HOME IN A BOX, OR BETTER YET , A PLASTIC "DOGGY CRATE" WITH BLANKET

ALSO BRING ALONG A ROLL OF PAPER TOWELS (FOR CLEAN UPS), A PLASTIC BAG (FOR THOSE USED CLEAN UP TOWELS) AND A CLEAN BACK UP BLANKET.

AT HOME.

YOU SHOULD HAVE A PLACE THAT IS EASY TO CLEAN LIKE A CLOSED OFF KITCHEN,X-PEN, PUPPY PLAYPEN OR A "DOGGY CRATE". THIS WELL BE THE PLACE THAT THE PUP CAN STAY SAFELY WHEN YOU CAN'T BE WATCHING. A LOW SIDED CAT LITTER BOX OR SWEATER BOX. PINE "STALL" PELLETS FOR LITTER.  NON -TIP WATER AND FOOD BOWLS

FIRST DAY HOME.

KEEP THE HOUSE AS QUITE AS POSSIBLE, NO KIDS PICKING UP THE PUP. QUITE PETTING OF ONLY THE FAMILY MEMBERS IS FINE. THE FIRST NIGHT THE PUP WILL MOST LIKELY CRY. CHECK TO MAKE SURE ALL IS WELL WITH THE PUP BUT DON'T TAKE HIM/HER TO BED WITH YOU, UNLESS TO WANT YOUR PUP TO BECOME A TYRANT. (LATER ON YOU CAN HAVE YOUR PUP SLEEP WITH YOU BUT NOT NOW)

TAKING THE PUP FOR IT'S VET CHECK.

TAKE THE PUP TO YOUR VET IN IT'S CRATE OR HOLD IT IN YOUR ARMS. DON'T PUT IT DOWN ON THE FLOOR, THE COUNTER WHEN PAYING THE BILL OR ON THE SEATS IN THE WAITING ROOM.  ONLY ON THE EXAMINATION TABLE!!!

REMEMBER THIS IS WHERE PEOPLE TAKE THEIR SICK DOGS!!!

DON'T LET ANYONE BUT THE VET OR VET TECH HOLD OR TOUCH THE PUP. EVEN IF IT SEEMS RUDE.YOUR PUPPY HEALTH AND OR LIFE MIGHT BE AT STAKE. DON'T TOUCH ANY ONE'S DOG , YOU DON'T KNOW WERE THE DOG HAS BEEN.

LET NO ONE, NO ONE, HANDLE THE PUP THAT IS NOT A FAMILY MEMBER. DON'T LET EVEN A FAMILY MEMBER IF THEY HAVE BEEN TO SOMEONES HOUSE WHO HAS DOGS UNTIL THEY CHANGED THEIR CLOTHES (WASH IN HOT WATER) AND HAS SHOWERED WITH AN ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP OR BETTER YET BLEACH WATER, (1 PARTS BLEACH TO 30 PARTS WATER) UNLESS YOU KNOW FOR SURE THAT THEIR PET IS UP TO DATE ON ALL SHOTS AND HAVEN'T BEEN TO CONTACT WITH ANY DOG THAT MAY NOT BE!!!!!

I KNOW THIS SOUNDS LIKE A LOT TO DO, BUT YOU SEE THIS IS A BABY AND THE FIRST SHOT IS NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP IT SAFE FROM GETTING SICK. IT IS ONLY TO START THE PUP ON IT'S WAY TO BUILD UP IMMUNITY. THERE ARE SOME REALLY MEAN SICKNESS OUT THERE (PARVO FOR ONE) AND SOME CAN BE BROUGHT IN ON YOUR CLOTHES AND HANDS. SO PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR PUP TO THE PARK OR ANY WERE THERE ARE OR MAY HAVE BEEN OTHER DOGS, UNTIL THE PUP HAS HAD AT LEST 3 SHOTS AND 7 DAYS AFTER  IN HIM/HER

WHEN TO GET THE SHOTS.

WE GIVE A PARVO ONLY SHOT CALLED NEOPAR AT 6 WEEKS THEN A "5 -WAY"  SHOT AT 8 WEEKS. THE NEXT SHOT WOULD BE DUE 4 WEEKS FROM THAT DATE, THE NEXT 4 WEEKS FROM THAT DATE . SO YOU PUP WILL HAVE SHOTS APPROPRIATE FOR IT'S AGE.

WHAT WE DO WITH OUR'S IS 1 NEOPAR AND 3 5-WAY SHOTS IN ALL. THE RABIES AS THE STATE RECOMMENDS.

HOUSE TRAINING.

TOY DOGS ARE HARDER TO HOUSE BRAKE THEN BIG DOGS.

DOGS DO NOT WANT TO MESS WERE THEY SLEEP.

A BIG DOG WELL CONSIDER MORE OF THE HOUSE AS "SLEEPING AREA" THEN A SMALL DOG.

IT IS BEST TO PICK EITHER HOUSE BRAKING (OUTSIDE) , PAPER/PAD TRAINING OR LITTER BOX. HOUSE BRAKING IS FINE IF YOU HAVE SOME WERE YOU CAN TAKE TO PUP WHERE IT WON'T GET WET IN BAD WEATHER, AND HAVE THE TIME TO TAKE HIM/HER OUT.

PAPER /PAD TRAINING IS GOOD FOR DOGS THAT WILL BE SPENDING A LOT OF TIME IN THE HOUSE. BUT AS PUPS THEY WILL PLAY WITH THE PAPER.

LITTER BOX IS WHAT WE  HAVE STRATED THE PUPS WITH. WE USE A KITTEN LITTER TRAY WHEN YOUNG AND MOVE TO A PLASTIC SWEATER BOX AS THEY GROW. WE USE HORSE STALL PELLETED BEDDING AS LITTER. WE LOVE IT.

EITHER WAY, WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS FIRST FIND OUT WHAT YOUR PUP DOES RIGHT BEFORE HE/SHE "NEED TO GO". MOST WILL RUN AROUND SNIFFING, SOME START TO SPIN. AS SOON AS YOU FIND THIS OUT YOU CAN TELL WHEN YOUR PUP "NEEDS TO GO" SO YOU CAN RUSH HIM/HER TO WERE YOU WANT IT "TO GO". AT FIRST THE PUP MAY THINK YOU ARE PLAYING WITH HIM/HER AND FORGET WHAT IT WAS DOING. BUT "WHEN YOU GATTA GO, YOU GATTA GO." AS SOON AS YOUR PUP "GOES" WERE YOU WANT HIM/HER TO "GO" THEN PRAISE THAT PUP LIKE THEY JUST SAVED YOUR LIFE!! TELL IT "GOOD BOY/GIRL!!!!! YOUR THE BEST PUPPY IN THE WORLD!!!" AND GIVE IT SOME TREAT. WHEN YOU FIND A "GIFT" IN THE WRONG PLACE, DON'T PUSH THE PUP'S NOSE IN IT, IT MAY THINK THAT YOU ARE POINTING IT OUT TO THEM AS A GOOD PLACE FOR A BATHROOM. DON'T SCOLD IT, IT WON'T UNDERSTAND, ALL IT WELL KNOW IS THAT YOU ARE MAD BUT NOT ABOUT WHAT.

UNLESS YOU CATCH THE PUP IN THE ACT! THEN YOU CAN SCOLD,IN A HARSH VOICE. DON'T HIT, NOT EVEN WITH A NEWS PAPER. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS HOLD THE PUPS FACE FIRMLY, NOT HURTING IT, BUT FIRMLY, LOOK IT STRAIGHT IN THE EYES AND SAY "BAD DOG!! BAD BAD DOG!" THEN HOPEFULLY THE PUP HASN'T DONE ALL OF THE "BUSINESS" AND YOU CAN TAKE THE PUP TO WERE YOU WOULD LIKE THE PUP "TO GO." IT MAY TAKE A WHILE BUT WHEN THE PUP GOES WERE THE PUP SHOULD, PRAISE, PRAISE,PRAISE!!!
